The First Images from the SCOOBY-DOO SUPERNATURAL Crossover Are Here

Spoilers for Supernatural season 13 ahead. Read on with caution if you aren’t caught up!

Supernatural is known for having episodes that are a bit bizarre. Sam and Dean Winchester have endured a musical episode, a Western episode, a “TV land” episode, and much, much more. However, none of those crazy adventures can compare to what is heading for them next: a Scooby-Doo crossover episode. Ever since the episode was first announced, the Supernatural fandom has been trying to imagine exactly how the episode would play out. Thankfully, Entertainment Weekly was able to get us not only a brief look at the first episode but also a quick rundown of what we can expect when our favorite hunters collide with some of our favorite, cartoon, supernatural sleuths. So before anything else happens, let’s take a look at what we can expect in the upcoming episode.

Can we just take a moment and talk about how Dean is rocking that neckerchief? He’s always been one to really lean into the fashion choices of their unique adventures, and it’s no surprise that he adopts the groovy, 70s style of the animated series Scooby-Doo Where Are You. Still, it’s definitely A Look and we’re here for it.

The boys end up in this cartoon mess after they take care of a monster for a pawnshop owner, who gives them a television in return. That’s where things start getting inky. The boys are sucked into the television and thrust into the world of Scooby-Doo. Not surprisingly, Dean is stoked once he realizes he’s in the world of his favorite cartoon and uses his encyclopedic knowledge of the show to help Team Free Will and the Mystery Gang stop a monster. And while Scooby-Doo monsters usually were pretty tame (and tended to be old men in masks), this monster will definitely be more of the Supernatural variety. As co-showrunner Andrew Dabb told EW, “it gets pretty dark.”

Of course, the big question is how did the boys find themselves in the cartoon universe of Scooby-Doo in the first place? Obviously, this isn’t the first time that the boys have been thrust into the world of television, thanks to the Archangel Gabriel. With Gabe’s big return to the show a couple of weeks ago, it would be natural to assume he was at it again. However, Dabb told EW Gabriel is not behind this trick.

So what’s the real story here? If Gabriel isn’t behind the cartoon antics, who is? We’ll get these answers and more when those meddling Winchesters (and Castiel) enter the Scooby-Doo ‘verse in “ScoobyNatural”, airing on March 29 on the CW.

What do you think of the first images from the Scooby-Doo crossover episode? Let’s talk about it in the comments!
