RIVERDALE’s Season 2 SDCC Trailer is Darker and More Drama-Fueled Than Ever

RIVERDALE’s Season 2 SDCC Trailer is Darker and More Drama-Fueled Than Ever

The first season of Riverdale was already a pretty dark, edgy version of the iconic Archie comic series, but now it’s about to get even darker. At Saturday’s Comic-Con panel, The CW unveiled a brand new trailer for Season 2, and true to what Jughead says in the opening narration, “people will look back at this as the exact moment that the last bit of Riverdale’s innocence finally died.”

Remember, that was the line that closed out last season, as Archie’s dad was shot in a robbery (or was it?) at the Pop’s Diner. This new trailer, first posted online exclusively be Entertainment Tonight, picks up where that harrowing final moment left off, with Archie (KJ Apa) carrying his wounded father into the hospital. Check it out below:

We also see Archie attempting to explain what happened to his friends, Betty , Veronica (Camilla Mendes), and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) — but it already seems like he’s keeping secrets from them. And with good reason, because it seemed like whoever hit Pop’s Diner was more concerned with Archie’s dad than with robbing the place — as Pop (Alvin Sanders) puts it, “The Angel of Death has come to Riverdale.”

And of course, we can’t forget how Cheryl Blossom (Madeline Petsch) set fire to her entire estate at the end of last season; now, she’s become the caretaker for her severely burned mother, who looks… extremely unhappy with this

Good thing we’ll have so much more time to get into all the drama this year — as revealed at SDCC, when Riverdale returns to the CW on October 11, it will run for a full season of 22 episodes instead of the 13 it started on last season. That’s twice as much mystery for everybody!
