Ray Park Wants a Darth Maul/Boba Fett Team-Up Movie

While Solo: A Star Wars Story shed new light on long-referenced events (and explained things we never asked for), it also included a major bombshell reveal at the end of the film which brought a fan-favorite character back to the big screen for the first time in nearly two decades. One of the most talked-about moments of Solo was seeing a familiar-looking tattooed Zabrak unveil himself as the big bad pulling the strings behind the scenes of one of the galaxy far, far away’s deadliest crime syndicates, the Crimson Dawn. In case it wasn’t clear, we are of course referring to Darth Maul, the erstwhile apprentice of Darth Sidious who suddenly found himself rent asunder during his climactic battle with Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Phantom Menace. While viewers of animated Star Wars series like The Clone Wars and Rebels knew that Maul’s apparent demise was only the beginning of his story, more casual fans were likely shocked to see that rumors of Darth’s death had been greatly exaggerated.

Earlier this year, we dove deep into the theory that Darth Maul would become the linchpin for a possible trilogy of Star Wars films building off of the seeds planted in Solo. This was inspired, in part, by the fact that actor Ray Park, who portrays Maul on the big screen, has been documenting his rigorous physical training regimen with Daniel Logan, who played young Boba Fett in the prequels. Now a grown man in peak physical condition and a galaxy far, far away primed for a story involving scoundrels, bounty hunters, and crime syndicates, it seems more than likely that Daniel Logan could suit up in Boba Fett’s iconic armor to aid the up-and-coming crime boss Darth Maul, played by Park. While this is still just a theory, we wanted to get an insider opinion on it all, so Nerdist’s senior news producer Jesse Gill sat down with Ray Park at a recent press day in Los Angeles to pick his brain about the possibility of seeing Darth Maul and Boba Fett team up to kick butt, take names, and earn that reputation for disintegrations that follows Fett around for the rest of the series.

What do you think? Do you want to see Darth Maul and Boba Fett join forces? Let us know in the comments below.
