NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 4K Restoration Gets a Creepy Poster

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 4K Restoration Gets a Creepy Poster

This year, we sadly lost the great George A. Romero, the man who single-handedly invented what we think of today as the modern zombie story with Night of the Living Dead back in 1968. There’s not many people who can claim they invented an entire genre, but without Romero’s low budget, independently financed horror movie, there’s no Return of the Living Dead, no 28 Days Later, and no The Walking Dead on television.

And this year, fans can celebrate Night of the Living Dead and its legendary creator by seeing the film the way it was meant to be seen, when it returns to movie theater screens in a new 4K restoration. Night of the Living Dead begins its nationwide rollout on Friday, the 13th of October, just in time for the Halloween season. And now, thanks to Rue Morgue, we have our first look at Janus Films’ all new poster by British comic book artist Sean Phillips for the film’s re-release which you can see below:

The poster features a new rendition of the film’s main stars, Judith O’Dea, Duane Jones, and Karl Hardman, surrounded by hungry zombies ready to get their dinner on. The film was scanned from the original camera negative and supervised by Romero himself in the months before his death.

The most important zombie movie ever made will premiere on October 13 at New York City’s Film Forum, and in the Los Angeles area it will have a special Cinespia screening on Saturday, October 21. After that, several more showings are already scheduled across America. For the complete list, you can click on Janus Films’ Night of the Living Dead webpage.

Are you stoked about getting to see this horror classic on the big screen? Be sure to let us know in the comments.
