New FALLOUT 4 DLC Lets You Build Your Own Robot Buddy

The first batch of Fallout 4 DLC, titled Automatron, is set to release on March 22. Because Deathclaws and Yao Guai weren’t hostile enough, this new Fallout 4 content will put players up against a tyrannical mechanist who just so happens to have a massive army of robots under his command. Sounds like fun, right? Well if you remember how tough Assualtrons and Sentry bots were in the main game, you’re probably taking this with a grain of salt.

But if you’re able to stomach fighting against a few robots on your own, you’ll be able to utilize another cool aspect from this DLC—robot part farming and building. Bethesda elaborated on what that will entail in a press release from this morning:

“Hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions. Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons such as the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices! (For characters level 15 or higher.)”

Automatron is simply kicking off the expanded content festivities for Fallout 4: there’s a Wasteland Workshop expansion coming next month, and Far Harbor—an expansion that will take players to Maine—will be released some time in May.

You can check out the trailer for all of this madness at the top of the page. Automatron will be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on March 22, and will cost $9.99 here in the US. Are you excited about the wave of new Fallout 4 content that’s inbound?
