New English-Subtitled ATTACK ON TITAN Trailer Towers Over the Competition

It’s a good time for anime fans, especially those longing to see their favorite series come to life on the big screen. First Death Note got a new director, then Dragon Ball Z is getting a sequel, and now there’s a brand new English-subtitled trailer for the forthcoming Attack on Titan movie.

While much of the footage is what we have seen before, this is the first official English-subtitled trailer. “Do people seriously believe in Titans?” the trailer asks. “”No one has seen one in over 100 years!” Of course, that bit of skepticism is immediately followed by the Colossal Titan peering his flayed face over the wall, staring down at our heroes. What follows is an appropriately apocalyptic, action-packed experience that evokes the anime and looks to offer a frenetically-paced action thriller.

The film, the first of two parts, opens in Japan on August 1, and will be followed by Attack on Titan End of the World on September 19th. The two-part series adapts the wildly popular manga of the same name by Hajime Isayama, which tells the story of humanity trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world populated by gigantic, cannibalistic monsters. Basically, imagine The Walking Dead if the zombies were like 10-feet tall minimum, and instead of dumb sheriff’s hats, our heroes had gas-powered parkour jetpacks. Directed by Shinji Higuchi, the films will make their way to Australia and New Zealand later in 2015, courtesy of Madman, who posted the above trailer. To be honest, this was already in my most anticipated films of the year before this trailer dropped, but now I’m even more excited than before.

What do you think of the new trailer? Are you on board or is this a bridge too far? Let us know in the comments below
