Nerdist Podcast: Martin Starr

The hilarious Martin Starr sits down with Chris to talk about acting, creativity, and more!

On the show, Martin talks about growing up in L.A. without the intent of being an actor, taking roles he finds interesting, that elaborate dick joke on Silicon Valley, selling a pilot (with Chewin’ It‘s Steve Lemme), the rise of the writer-performer, and his new horror film Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead. Also, Chris refuses to believe that the iPhone 6 Plus won’t fit in Martin’s pocket. And, beard maintenance.

  1. Nicholas says:

It’s confirmed. Beards filter your voice to sound like Matt Mira.

  2. sun123 says:

He is refreshingly unguarded and interactive – pod guests typically are “on”, but he engaged conversationally, often responding by asking questions of chris.

  3. Stephen Dias says:

In this episode of the Nerdist Podcast, Chris coins the term “zomedy.” Love it!

  4. Luanne says:

This isn’t showing up in itunes for me  (?)

  5. Arabrabbra says:

His energy might seem low but from watching him in all his roles, that seems to be his style. He is quick and hilarious and I loved this episode. I would also totally watch STARR SEARCH. Would love to be a contestant on it. I think I could win Martin’s heart

  6. trainerjack says:

I spent this entire podcast amazed at how much Martin Starr sounds just like a well-adjusted, stable, happy Matt Mira.

  7. Fucking love this chat!

  8. ericmci says:

Is all of life brought to you by Stamps.com now?

  9. Oh yeah, that’s REALLY what the lady’s want. Side pic’s of dicks

  10. csmccauley says:

“Feed mayonnaise TO the tuna fish!”

  11. Paul says:

Martin is great. I thought this was a good interview. Chris did a good job of coaxing follow up answers from Martin, who just seems like a reserved dude.

  12. Sparklepony says:

I’m only about a half hour in, but he reminds me of a less lovable Matt Mira?

  13. Jake says:

This was a slow burn, but man, once Martin started taking jabs at Chris, I was laughing out loud. The end phone conversation was amazing.

  14. D says:

This dudes energy level was in another dimension. Couldn’t get through the first 10 minutes.

    • Chris says:

      Keep listening! He livens up.

    • +1.  That was about the time when I thought I had a déjà-vu (or rather déjà-ecouté), and indeed I remembered him from the Big Pop Fun interview with Tom Wilson; or rather “interview”.  What a prick.  If it wasn’t for Doug Benson, combining drugs and podcasts wouldn’t have any appeal.
