  1. setlasmon says:

to be fair to Dave I thought “I wrote the fuck out of this book” was pretty funny. and then the comedy ended… and the shredding began.

  2. setlasmon says:

I hate to join the hate-fest (okay clearly I dont)

Mitch Hedberg plus SHREDDING minus FUNNY = Dave Hill

Richter is amazing. I dont care what DH is lazily & halfassedly promoting.. I wanted more ANDY!

as for you other nerds, I super uncomfortably love you dudes.

  3. Nicole Marie says:

    The audience sounds utterly dead.

  4. The first song The Duke Spirit did was called “The Step and the Walk” off their Neptune album.

  5. Ginger Ma says:

Thanks @Nick. I found it right after I posted. Ain’t that the way?

  6. Admiral Kent says:

Jesus Christ…no more Dave Hill! He’s like Andy Dick made more annoying by the addition of an electric guitar.

  7. Zainab says:

Hehehe, Chris’ reaction to “fuck pranks” was so absolutely goddamn adorable!

  8. Nick says:

@Ginger Ma The first song The Duke Spirit is called “The Step and The Walk” from the album Neptune.

  9. @Toonsmyth
I salute your attitude and admire your courage, sir. *nerdy fistbump*

  10. toonsmyth says:

@Dr.Quemmento: You’re absolutely right. Aplogies all around. I was merely disgruntled because I enjoy listening to these podcasts while I work, and I hated having to turn this one off halfway through because I found Dave Hill to be annoying, and that he was taking time away from the great Andy Richter. It was an impulse comment typed in anger, and in retrospect I wish I could delete it.

  11. Tracie says:

Could never be mad at you Chris! Thanks again for a wonderful evening of live nerd entertainment. We were at the back of the line for the meet and greet, and I enjoyed watching you, Matt and Jonah give everyone your full attention and made every person feel special. Thanks again.

  12. Ginger Ma says:

What is the name of the first sone that The Duke Spirit performs? I must know this!

Thank you Chris for bringing this to my earholes.

  13. Chris Hardwick says:

I did have to cut quemments to keep the show from being 2 hours long. We do a lot of live shows and sadly, not all of them will make it. We don’t have control over recording these shows, so a number of them have audio issues from the venues not being used to our setup. Also, some of our live shows have been 3 hrs long and I just don’t have the time to edit them down to a digestible length. We do our best! But some shows just work better as singular experiences for us and the folks who were there. Please don’t be mad!!

  14. @Toonhsmyth
Different jokes for different folks, man. No need to be negative and insulting while expressing an opinion that, for all you know, is yours and yours alone.

  15. toonhsmyth says:

I’ve never heard of this Dave Hill guy before, but I had to stop listening shortly after he came on. Right about the point that he did that half-assed version of Hot For Teacher. The whole podcast just became unlistenable after that. I love you guys. I love Andy Richter. But PLEASE, no more smarmy alcoholic musicians feigning sincerity and failing miserably. Thank you.

  16. Ben Z says:

    @Chris Hardwick
Hmmm… I was hoping that live shows were being released in order and just delayed to the large amount of them. However, this was recorded on June 2, 2012. My wife and I have been waiting for the Iowa City one (mid-April) to relive our amazing experience. May I ask how you’re deciding to release these?

  17. Tracie says:

Wished the Clements had been included, my 14 year old was looking forward to hearing her question with Chris. And @Bing , yes you got quite a welcome, we were sitting next to you. Was cool to have Chris that close!

  18. Josh says:

The riffing on @CH’s age was hilarious. “The year was 1958. A five year old Chris Hardwick was…” lol Jealous of everyone who got to see it live! Great show as usual fellas!

“Fellas”? Suddenly, I too am from the late 50s.

Fellas, fellas, I got it. We’ll call ’em, ‘burritos’. Finally, a thingamajig to bring everyone together, even if it keeps us apart spatially.

  19. Al says:

I love the Duke Spirit… I’m looking forward to this one. (but realistically, i look forward to all episodes)

  20. Kory Mallinger says:

great show!!! just curious whatever happened to the nerdist live in Madison?that was a fun show. keep up the great work love the podcast.

  21. Patty Marvel says:

Gosh DARN you, Chris and Matt! I was listening to this at work when the “fuck pranks” bit and CH’s increasing awkwardness played! Do you know how very hard and painful it is to physically hold back laughter in the middle of a library office?!?!? I haven’t been this embarrassed at work since I had to explain to an older colleague why a local roller derby team with the name “Cleveland Steamers” was funny!!

On a totally different subject, have you considered making these live L.A. podcasts with a band an annual event? I’ve no idea how many people the Nokia sits, but if it’s as big as I think and you managed to pull in THAT many people, you should certainly consider making this a regular thing. Call it “Nerdist Fest,” make it last all weekend long, feature bands and stand-up in between podcasts and – here’s the important part – give enough notice so those of us who live in cities you’ve never visited (CLEVELAND!!!) can instead come out and see YOU guys and make a brief vacation of the event.

Make it so! (:Claps hands to summon minions:)

  22. Pat T says:

Ugh I could not stand Dave Hill’s tone and sense of humor. Going from Richter to him was rough.. Just my shitty opinion though!

  23. @Deedy: I was lucky enough to have attended the Boston show at the Wilbur Theatre last month. Chris, Matt and Jonah were as funny as usual, but, there were a few jokes that some people — not me, just to be clear — might have found to be in bad taste.

Chris said, at the time, that it might be too much to try cutting the objectionable parts, and that the entire episode might have to be taken off the schedule altogether. I can only presume that’s why we haven’t heard it so far. If that’s not the case, I look forward to being corrected.

  24. Here is the video of the people dressed up with either Comment, Question of Quement!!!

@Deedy Ha. I’m assuming you mean the Wilbur? I’m still trying to forget that show. Except for the comment about the last time Chris had to chug anything. That was priceless. Oh Schadenfreude <3!!

@bing Wasn't that the best welcome every?

@JRN I was on the balcony so I couldn't see Chris during the quemment portion. People will get bored and eventually move on from the subject of Chris Hardwick's fashion sense. πŸ™‚

According to Chris the posting of live shows depends on how much work that show needs along with promotional issues. For example: Dave Hill is promoting a book and touring so the posting of that show now seems appropriate.

Speaking of Dave Hill, I saw him yesterday at the Boston Improv. He was amusing. I have his undershirt. Of course there is a story! Ladies and gentleman: he does indeed smell nice. *innocent smile*

  25. Brian says:

Jonah, how about you shut the fuck up.

kidding, but don’t get mad that we want more hostful’s

  26. JRN says:

So glad I finally got to see a live show! Won’t be able to forget the progressively deeper shades of pink that Chris turned as the Quemments got so… personal. (Is that the word I’m looking for?) Gracious as ever though, Hardwick – even when having to defend your pants!

  27. Justin says:

Did you guys lose the Royal Oak show? πŸ™

  28. Bing says:

    awwww no quemments!

the day this was recorded was my first full day of being a Los Angeles resident and i got to ask a quemment and Chris strattled my lap and stared me down while we talked.

    what a great show.

  29. Deedy says:

Will we ever get to hear Live from Boston?
