I’ve heard several times by different comics that David Cross is a really pretentious cunt. But I guess when you are killing in those chipmunk movies the way he is, you can’t help but think you’re better than everyone.

I feel ashamed I read that  troll exchange, time to do what I came here for, listen to this podcast.

  3. George Jefferson says:

David Cross! Always talented and always a little hard to swallow. The comedy equivalent of eggplant.

  4. Nikki says:

seems like they were struggling to keep conversation going in this one :/

  5. Jenny Mitchell says:

@Nerdist – guys, for you next hostfull goodness episode can you do a Q and A?  Ya know, start a thread so we can ask questions for y’all to answer?

  6. Branden says:

a third season of “The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret”?
    AWESOME!!

  8. DoucheStalker says:

David Cross’ new character as Mr. DoucheBag is really working.

  9. Hardwick sucks. Making up a story similar to David’s to try to relate to a real comic. I’m glad David called him out on the shitty joke.

    • timorousme says:

If Chris was going to make up a story about performing at that particular Jesuit school to compete with David’s story, why would he make up the shitty joke about priests/Christmas trees?
The point wasn’t whose experience was more daunting or whose act was more controversial or funny. Chris was just speaking to David’s experience about the religious vibe in the room. David, as he does, was just busting Chris’s balls about the shitty joke Chris made as a young comedian in an awkward situation.

      • Hardwick Sucks says:

Because Chris Hardwick’s “stand up comedy” is low level, first year stuff. He has never evolved past base level jokes that you could come up with after one night. He so desperately wants to be called a comedian that he’ll cling to any real comedian in hopes of legitimizing himself. In this case Hardwick claims to have gone to the same or similar school venue to try to relate to David Cross. Because the story is made up he had to also quickly make up a joke that he might have said at said venue, but because Chris Hardwick is not a very good comedian or improvisor he came up with a really shitty joke. Really he wants validation from other comedians so that he can call himself one. Chris should stick to being a generic host, that’s where he truly excels. Leave the comedy to the comedians.

        • Dcoil03 says:

Hey everyone! Pay attention to this guy! He surely is the smartest, most astute, most amazing person on the internet! Not only is he brave enough to come to Chris Hardwick’s website to call him out about his comedy, but also has the sheer courage to accuse Chris a liar about a personal anecdote to which he was not a witness to! The guts it takes to do such amazing feats will surely cause Chris to admit that he is beneath such a Godlike creature and shut down Nerdist personally. Everyone should bask in the glory of this person, for they are the alpha and omega of the human race.
Just kidding. You’re a giant asshole.

        • Rudeness Blows says:

@Dcoil03  I think you really hit the nail on the head here when you said that this guy thinks he’s the smartest, most astute, most amazing person on the internet.  His unbridled arrogance is what’s really astounding.  I’ve never not been dumbfounded by the way that some people will mistake their own opinion for objective truth and proceed to preach it vehemently from whatever pulpit appears to be in their immediate vicinity.

        • Spunow says:

“Because Chris Hardwick’s ‘stand up comedy’ is low level, first year stuff. He has never evolved past base level jokes that you could come up with after one night.”
Maybe you could post a YouTube video of your own stand-up so that you can show Chris and all of his rabid fans of mediocrity how it’s really done. Maybe some upper level jokes that you could come up with after two nights or three nights. No? Didn’t think so.

“He so desperately wants to be called a comedian that he’ll cling to any real comedian in hopes of legitimizing himself.”
No, he so desperately wants to be called a comedian that he goes out and performs jokes that he thought of for money. People pay him to be funny in live venues and on television, hence checking every box (all 1 of them) required for qualification as a ‘real comedian’.

“In this case Hardwick claims to have gone to the same or similar school venue to try to relate to David Cross. Because the story is made up he had to also quickly make up a joke that he might have said at said venue, but because Chris Hardwick is not a very good comedian or improvisor he came up with a really shitty joke.”
Hardwick didn’t just claim to have performed at the same school; he DID perform at the same school on Thursday, August 30th, 2012 at 8:00 PM, as a ridiculously simple Google search would’ve shown you before you accused him of making up that story. If your belligerent attitude and your mindless misconception that your way of seeing things is the only way weren’t enough to completely discount your vapid opinion, this glaring error in your argument really seals the deal. As humans all we really have to call our own is our time and our energy, and you were so lazily confident in your flawed logic that you didn’t even bother to do a basic fact check, showing an utter inconsideration for the time and energy of every person who bothered to read what you wrote. Shame on you.

“Really he wants validation from other comedians so that he can call himself one.”
Accurately referring to yourself as a comedian doesn’t require validation from other comedians. As previously stated, people need to pay you to be funny; that’s it.

“Chris should stick to being a generic host, that’s where he truly excels. Leave the comedy to the comedians.”
And you should stick to keeping your grades up and trying to prevent your mom from discovering your search history and the growing pile of Charmin wipes under your bed. Leave the personal opinion sharing to people who are capable of critical thought.

    • Nikki says:

Why are you even on this website at all if you don’t like chris?

      • Hardwick Sucks says:

I can like the podcasts, the interviews, the hosting, and the guests can’t I? Just because I don’t like his comedy or personality doesn’t mean I won’t listen to this and other podcasts on the site. Do I have to be a Hardwick fan in order to enjoy the empire he has built? No. The rabid fandom for mediocrity is really silly.

        • Three Toes of Fury says:

Thank goodness the voice of reason has shown up to set both Chris and we,  his “rabid fans of mediocrity”,  straight.    Its about [email protected]#$ing time we had some clear thinking, rational, constructive criticism on this board!
          .
We should all be thanking @HardwickSucks for applying his/her unique brand of logic that:  they dont like chris, his comedy, or personality,  yet they listen to the podcast regularly and then comment.   Brilliant!    From now on I plan on only listening to bands i dislike,  eating foods i hate,  and reading books in languages i cant read,   and then trashing all three categories publicly.     Brilliant!

        • Rudeness Blows says:

Your life must be pretty bleak if you’ve got nothing better to do than troll comment threads with provocative negativity for the sole purpose of taking a meaningless, anonymous, stand against “rabid fandom for mediocrity” and butt heads with people whose opinions and tastes are different from yours.  Now that’s really silly.  I do hope things turn around for you, brother.
