Nerdist Podcast #57: GREG PROOPS

“Who’s Line” alum Greg Proops is an amazing improvisor and does a spot-on Thomas Alva Edison. Chris, Jonah and Matt must have all wondered at some point that if Edison were a woman, would she have patented the electric tampon? And how could they NOT have called it “MenFlow Park”? #ThisIsWhyISpendALotOfTimeAlone

Enjoy Greg’s podcast, The Smartest Man In The World.

Who Is the Secret Cameo in DEADPOOL 2?

  1. Josh from Europe says:

    Another great podcast

  2. Sarah Silverman has the best take with regard to 3D: “Make it a treat.”

Hollywood is DEFINITELY not making it a treat right now.

  3. anna says:

enjoyable podcast all around. possibly my favorite part was the bit about douche-mongers on twitter at the end! also great to hear about whose line, that show was endlessly entertaining with a knockout cast.

  4. Fish says:

What a great talk with Greg Proops! I kind of wish someone would have mentioned his involvement with the video game MadWorld. His voicework is the best part of the game!

  5. sevinPackage says:

I hope Wil Wheaton spends most of the upcoming podcast telling Chris (and maybe Kevin Smith) about all the fun times that were had on JoCo Cruise Crazy, and why they should’ve dropped everything (even super-new gadgets and pornstars) to be there.

  6. smartbunny says:

“I make stuff, actually I make up stuff, stories mostly, collaborations of thoughts, dreams, and actions. Thats me.”

    Douche. Nugget.

I saw Greg in the Ace Frehley video on Metal Mania a few weeks ago! I was all, “That’s Greg Proops!” and my buddy was all, “What? Really?” and I was all, “zzzz it’s like 3AM…”

  7. Keith says:

I’m so glad you guys got Greg Proops on. I got to see him, and he is definetely one of my favourite comedians. Another great nerdist podcast to consume.

  8. I’m a manager at Roosters, and we loved hearing you reminisce about Rooster T. Feathers! We’ve got some videos with Tony Modica, Will Durst, Dan St. Paul and Johnny Steele telling stories about “the old days,” including the story of how The Rooster got its Name. It was part of our 30th birthday celebration two years ago.

  9. Stacy says:

I award this episode 1,000 points for being awesome.

  10. Chris Hardwick says:

  11. Tzvi says:

Again great show… so, can we add “Proopsian” into the lexicon? As in “damn, Sally made fun of the teacher with Proopsian veracity.”

  12. jay hinkle says:

    Hi, Chris
Thanks for putting Greg up on your site. I’m a fan of his work as I am yours. Really enjoy your stand-up!

I have a question for you: would you be in the market for an apprentice of sorts? I’m looking to network to hone my comedy writing and would love to help out on any projects you might have, now or in the near future. I’m also curious how you got started with voice work, as this is something that is of interest to me as well.

If you have a moment to let me know what you think about the above I’d greatly appreciate it.

    All the best,
    Jay Hinkle.

  13. AussieCasper says:

As I sat at work staring out at the Spokane River listening to Greg talk about how he was lost in the vast intellectual wasteland of Spokane, I couldn’t help but laugh at the fact that Gonzaga University students aren’t the only people that Spokane seems to enjoy trying to fuck over…

I’m glad he made it out alive.

  14. Wyndham says:

i know i must not be the first to say this but every time you say enjoy your burrito, i’m like hell where is my burrito. but of course i live in Maine and there ARE NO burritos !

  15. Beaucifer says:

I’m truly happy you had Greg on. I’ve recently just finished all the “Smartest Man in the World” Podcast’s. It’s good to hear the back and forth with you, when his podcast is just him in front of an audience. I’d really appreciate you including Greg on one of the live shows.

  16. elnino says:

Thought provoking and hilarious. Would have enjoyed to hear Greg go on some more regarding Twitter but perhaps another time. Always enjoy the podcast and my burrito is delicious!

  17. Chris Hardwick says:

Yes! Tom Kenny was on the live podcast, episode 31, with Koechner & Fred Willard.

  18. genepete says:

I believe Tom Kenny was on the Largo podcast w/ David Koechner, Rachel.

  19. Rachel says:

…Tom Kenny was on Nerdist? When? Were you confusing him with Billy West (also awesome)?

  20. martin says:

i just heard about this… um, i think it was via the sklars podcast. listened to a few and i really like it. i dont like your damn clean lifestyles, but i enjoy your voices and your thoughts. keep up the good work.

  21. my_leisure says:

My favorite bit of Proops will always be the one about pixie sticks. “the size of a Brontosaurus erection”

  22. Chad H says:

Proops is awesome, I lucked out and found his podcast when it first launched and have been subbed ever since.

  23. Teague says:

I distinctly remember the show that ABC’s “Whose Line?” replaced. It was “Maximum Bob” starring Beau Bridges. I actually was really into that show.

  24. Great Podcast Fellas! Mr. Proops is always funny! I’m totally a huge “Who’s Line” fan…loved Scenes from a Hat, oh and Props too – funny stuff!

  25. LAuron says:

Yay! So excited for this! I’ve been listening to The Smartest Man In The World podcast on my ipod at work and disturbing people who sit nearby with the sounds I make when I’m trying not to laugh really loud. One guy thought I was choking. If I’d known he was going to be on, I would have asked if he could do his Ace Frehley voice, just one time.
