Nerdist at Comic-Con International!

Nerdist Comic-Con
If it’s July, you can be sure of two things: 1) its heat is the subject of several Creedence Clearwater Revival songs, and 2) it’s time once again for Comic-Con International in beautiful San Diego, the city that looks like the future. As is customary, Nerdist is all up on the happenings of the four-day geek-and-entertainment culture explosion with panels, podcasts, and people who are awesome.

On Thursday, July 18th, at 2:00pm, in Room 7AB, you can see Chris Hardwick moderate the Nick Re-Mix panel (Nick Animation of Yesterday, Today, & Tomorrow), which gathers the creators of some of Nickelodeon’s top classic and new programs, such as Hey Arnold!, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, and Sanjay & Craig, to talk about how one goes about making such programs.

Following that, at 3:50pm in Hall H, Chris will also be moderating the highly-anticipated panel about the highly-anticipated film version of Ender’s Game. You’ll see exclusive footage and a Q&A with Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, and Abigail Breslin, along with producer Roberto Orci (Star Trek Into Darkness) and director Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine). But there’s more: you’ll also see the first footage from the movie adaptation of Divergent, with a panel including novelist Veronica Roth, director Neil Burger, and cast members Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Miles Teller, Maggie Q, Ansel Elgort, Mekhi Phifer, Ben Lamb, Ben Lloyd-Hughes and Christian Madsen.

At 7:30pm on Thursday, in Room 26AB, come see Jonah Ray compete in the Tournament of Nerds LIVE alongside Roger Barr, Mike Carlson, Maddox, and Marc Andreyko to see which geek character is better than which other geek character. Hosted by Justin Donaldson and Hal Rudnick.

On Friday at 10am in Hall H, join Chris as he moderates a panel on The World’s End. One more Cornetto, with Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Edgar Wright all on hand showing off their newest, in which a pub crawl leads to unanticipated apocalyptic trouble.

Friday at 1:30pm in Hall H is AMC’s The Walking Dead in which Chris interviews cast members Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steve Yuen, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, David Morrissey, Scott Wilson, and Chad Coleman along with new showrunner Scott Gimple, executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, and Dave Alpert, and special effects makeup supervisor Greg Nicotero.

Make sure you head to the Legendary booth in the Exhibit Hall at 3pm Friday — that’s when you can get Chris Hardwick’s autograph and maybe a hug if there’s time.

A bit later, at 4:00pm on Friday at the Lyceum Theater, Nerdist Presents: A Conversation with… Well, we’re actually not telling yet. Stay tuned to tomorrow when we announce who Carrie Keagan will be in a conversation with at the Lyceum Theater.

Room 32AB, it’s the Thrilling Adventure Hour World Domination Tour, in which creators Ben Acker and Ben Blacker discuss the live show, podcast, and upcoming graphic novel with some of your favorite actors and artists.

At 8:00pm Friday night, Chris Hardwick will join the likes of Neil Gaiman, John Barrowman, and Maurice LaMarche as presenters as SyFy presents the Will Eisner Comic Book Industry Awards. It’s like the Oscars, but for comics. Of COURSE they’d have it at CCI.

Saturday morning from 9am – 11:15, join Nerdist News’ Dan Casey and Nerdist News Editor-In-Chief Brian Walton for a Geek Week Comic Block as they interview some of the biggest names in comics. Todd McFarlane (Spawn) and Grant Morrison will be on hand and stay tuned for the full line up later today on

One of the most anticipated events of the con is the big Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures panel in Hall H on Saturday morning 10:45am-1:15pm. Godzilla, Seventh Son, 300:Rise of an Empire, Gravity, The LEGO Movie, Edge of Tomorrow. Yeah, you want to be there.

On Saturday at 2pm in the Indigo Ballroom, you can see Chris Hardwick moderate the panel for the new Hulu superhero comedy The Awesomes along with co-creators Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker, writer/producer and comic author Judd Winick, and cast members Josh Meyers, Taran Killam, Kenan Thompson, and Bobby Moynihan.

Then, at 3:00pm on Saturday, in the Indigo Ballroom, it’s the big one: The Nerdist Industries Panel. Join Chris Hardwick and company as they discuss all the exciting upcoming stuff we’ve got going on in the various wings of the Nerdist bunker. You may recognize some of the names: Freddie Wonfg(Video Game High School), Matt Mira (Nerdist Podcast), Chloe Dykstra (Just Cos), Carrie Keagan (VH1’s Morning Buzz), Nick Acott and Gary Scullion (Sneaky Zebra) and our own Brian Walton (Nerdist News).

At 6pm Saturday, Chris will be moderating Marvel’s panel in Hall H. You’ll get a look at Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and more from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

At 9:30pm Saturday at the Balboa Theater, it’s the Nerdist Podcast LIVE with extra special guest, Doctor Who‘s Matt Smith! It’ll be fun times fifty.

Finally, on Sunday, if you’re in Hall H, you can see Chris Hardwick moderate the Breaking Bad panel along with creator Vince Gilligan and stars Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, Dean Norris, Betsy Brandt, R.J. Mitte, and Bob Odenkirk at 11:15am. Then, stick around until 1:50pm to see Hardwick moderate the Community panel with the triumphant return of creator Dan Harmon, executive producer Chris McKenna and stars Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong are also scheduled to appear.

So there you have it! That’s what Nerdist is up to this week, but you might also see the good people at the Channel running around or even one of us roving writers corresponding about things. If you see us, say hello! And have fun out there.

Who Is the Secret Cameo in DEADPOOL 2?

  1. CJ says:

I quit going to SDCC as soon as it became too large and too f’ng expensive to attend (last time was 2009) and so have a lot of independent vendors …

I do applaud Course for the Force (anything for charity is awesome) ….

I also applaud the fact there’s more happening outside of the San Diego Convention Center (you don’t need to be inside via a SDCC badge to have a nerd-gasm) …

As for watching streamed footage online? Just Google San Diego Comic Con Intl 2013 and you’ll find it …

  2. Stephanie H. says:

I’m tired just looking at the schedule. Wish I could be there!

  3. SomeGuyInATL says:

But will Chris be at Dragon-Con?

  4. Atticus says:

Please let all these make there way online for the people who couldn’t attend. It would be the greatest gift of joy in, well, ever.

  5. diemrbond says:

Bloody hell Chris, you’re taking over Comic Con! *applause*

I may have missed it, but are Nerdist and Freddie Wong teaming up? Or is that a ‘too be announced’?

  6. sharadoc says:

This is when I’m going to miss G4 the most! Oh how I loved flipping on Comic-Con all weekend. If someone could stream some of this online, it could make up for it a little.

  7. CXRengel says:

I can’t be there, for the third year in a row. What’s worse is that I’ll be working (at my real job) the whole time.

  8. bea says:

Is any of this gonna stream online anywhere? What will be put on the podcast? Stuck in the Bay Area and not able to make it to Comic Con. Need my nerd fix!!!
