Movie Morsels: Watch Christopher Walken Talk to a Cat in NINE LIVES Clip

Happy Monday, everyone! Let’s get this work week started with a clip from one of the more absurd-looking films to come down the pike in some time: Nine Lives, starring Kevin Spacey (as a cat) and Christopher Walken (as a human). In today’s Movie Morsels we also have a new video from the world of Independence Day: Resurgence, the latest Ghostbusters TV spot, and more!

Nine Lives

Think of it as The Shaggy Dog for a new millennium. House of Cards‘ Kevin Spacey plays a man who becomes a cat, with Christopher Walken as his cat whisperer, in the new family comedy Nine Lives. Now, I am by no means advocating the use of drugs, but we’ve got to imagine that this film was put together with a medicinal substance-addled viewership in mind. Directed by the once great Barry Sonnenfeld, Nine Lives opens on August 5.

Independence Day: Resurgence

With Will Smith sitting out the 20-years-in-the-making sequel to Independence Day, the marketing team behind the Fox production is heavily playing up the actors who are returning for Independence Day: Resurgence, no matter how little remembered their roles in the original might be. Case in point: Brent Spiner’s wacky scientist Dr. Okun, who’s the subject of the latest would-be viral video for the film…

Co-starring Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Charlotte Gainsbourg (yeah, I still can’t believe she’s in it either), Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, Angelababy, Sela Ward, and William Fichtner, Independence Day: Resurgence lands on June 24.

Ghostbusters

The proton-pack-wearing, jumpsuited ladies of the new Ghostbusters reboot light ’em up again in the latest TV spot for the Paul Feig-directed comedy. Just four more weeks to go until we find out (on July 15) if the film is a worthy successor to the original 1984 classic.

Moana

Between Frozen, Big Hero 6, and Zootopia, Disney animation has been on a crazy winning streak of late. Will it continue with the South Seas adventure Moana? Since it’s directed by Ron Clements and Jon Musker, who are responsible for no fewer than three of my favorite Disney animated films (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Hercules), I’m more than cautiously optimistic. Here’s the film’s latest international poster…

Nerve

Finally today, we have the latest trailer for Nerve, the selfie generation thriller about an online game that gets way out of hand. If you’re not a fan of Hollywood nepotism, please be advised that the following trailer includes the sight of James Franco’s little brother and Julia Roberts’ niece playing two well-toned narcissists who meet-cute, run through a department store in their underwear, and have all kinds of sexy, photogenic adventures.
