We’re now just under two months away from the first live-action Star Wars movie since Revenge of the Sith in 2005. That means that Lucasfilm and Disney are about to begin the final media push for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The new poster debuted yesterday along with this brief teaser for the new trailer.

WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES

War For The Planet of the Apes

Production has officially begun on War For The Planet of the Apes, and director Matt Reeves posted the first picture from the set on his twitter account. The picture itself tells us next to nothing about the film, as it’s impossible to tell who we are looking at in this image. But the franchise does have a history of using horses on the beach for iconic shots… Planet of the Apes

But given the fact that Caesar and his apes are on the west coast, we probably won’t be seeing the Statue of Liberty in this movie.

DOCTOR STRANGE

Rachel McAdams

Everyone assumed that Rachel McAdams was either playing Clea or Linda “Night Nurse” Carter in Marvel’s Doctor Strange movie. Both of those characters were important to Strange, so they seemed like natural choices. But instead, McAdams may not be playing either of those characters!

A rumor originating on Latino Review has McAdams portraying Christine Palmer, one of the supporting characters in Night Nurse, but not the one who had a comic book history with Strange. But here’s an alternate theory: what if Christine Palmer is Clea…and she just doesn’t know it yet?

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

Falcon Anthony Mackie As you may recall from Ant-Man, the first meeting between Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Sam Wilson a.k.a. The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) didn’t exactly go smoothly. But the post-credits scene implied that Sam knew Scott well enough to call on him for a favor. Clearly something changed between Ant-Man and Captain America: Civil War.

During a new interview, Mackie said “Our relationship is… yeah [laughs]. It grows in Civil War. But that’s Paul Rudd, man. Paul Rudd and I just make fun of each other all the time, so it just carries over into the movie. So I respect his [Kansas City] Royals – I’m pulling for his Royals – but we just make fun of each other all the time.”

THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE

Rosario Dawson Na na na na na na na na…Batgirl!

That’s right, Rosario Dawson is your new Batgirl, within the world of The LEGO Batman Movie. She’ll be joining returning LEGO Movie star Will Arnett as Batman, Michael Cera as Robin and Zach Galifianakis as The Joker.

Dawson has previously voiced Wonder Woman in Justice League: Throne of Atlantis. So, if she gets to play Supergirl in the future, then she’ll have portrayed all three of DC’s top heroines!

PET SEMATARY

StephenKingPetSematary

Guillermo del Toro has another dream movie that he’d love to make: Stephen King’s 1983 novel, Pet Sematary. On his twitter account, del Toro called Pet Sematary “Unrelentingly dark and emotional” before adding that he “would kill to make it on film.”

Hollywood is gonna eventually get around to remaking Pet Sematary. If it has to happen, why not give it to del Toro?

RATCHET & CLANK

It’s been just under two years since the last Ratchet & Clank video game, but the adventurous duo are getting their own animated movie in 2016 from Sony Pictures! Several of the original voice cast members are returning for the movie, which will re-imagine the origin of Ratchet & Clank from the first game that came out in 2002.

That’s a wrap for today’s Movie Morsels! Tell us which of these films that you’re most looking forward to in the comment section below!
