Movie Morsels: Don Cheadle on War Machine’s Fate in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

Movie Morsels: Don Cheadle on War Machine’s Fate in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

If you’re as worried as I am about Rhodey’s fate in Captain America: Civil War, you’ll want to hear the word on War Machine’s future in today’s Movie Morsels. We also have the latest on X-Men: Apocalypse, Justice League, and much more!

Captain America: Civil War

Civil War 9

So the images we’ve seen of Don Cheadle’s War Machine getting injured in Civil War may not be a mere case of bait and switch, after all… or is this all part of Marvel’s plan? I’m still of the opinion that the character hasn’t really been given his full due in these films, so here’s hoping he’s back for more. In any case, Cheadle remarks in a new interview…

“I’m on Twitter, so I’ve gotten a few people going, ‘Rhodey better not be dead, son. I’m going to be so mad.’ Or ‘I’m done with this thing if Rhodey’s dead.’ But that’s cool, I like that people get so upset about it. I like that in a Marvel movie people are able to evoke such emotion.”

Cheadle maddeningly teases, “It does look bad for Rhodey.”

Indicating how much we’ll see of the full Avengers lineup together in the film, Cheadle says…

“Making those Marvel movies is always so interesting, because for Robert and I, once the face plate is down, [the computer programmers] most of the time take over. So we’re not often all together in the same place. This time, we have a couple of scenes where we’re all together — a board room scene, at headquarters and out on the tarmac (for the film’s signature battle).”

We also have two new TV spots for the film, due out on May 6…

X-Men: Apocalypse

X-Men: Apocalypse

Though Jennifer Lawrence has gone on record saying that X-Men: Apocalypse would be her final X-Men film, the actress appears to have had such a good time during production that she’s new indicating she might be up for more, if only because there’s not as much work for her to do as in the Hunger Games movies. In a new interview with Empire, Lawrence confesses, “I am dying to come back. I love these movies, I love being in them. I love ensemble movies because it’s not on anyone’s shoulders.”

Alien

Aliens

Taking its cue from other corporate mandated holidays like Back to the Future Day and Star Wars Day, Fox has announced that Alien Day will occur on April 26 (a nod to Alien‘s planet LV-426). Alien and Aliens will screen in theaters in 20 countries that day, Fox will sponsor a 24-hour Twitter contest, and over a dozen different licensees will sell new Alien-themed products—the coolest of which by far is Reebok’s pair of “Alien Stompers,” worn by Ripley herself in Aliens.

Justice League

batman v superman

Did you know that Ben Affleck is currently contracted with Warner Bros. for just two Justice League movies? That means the actor will has some serious negotiations ahead of him if the studio wants to make a solo Batman film with his character (introduced in last weekend’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice). Although, says William Morris Endeavor’s Patrick Whitesell, “There’s a script that he’s written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that’s out there as an option.”

Downsizing

Ghostbusters

Alas, the Election reunion isn’t happening. Kristen Wiig (pictured above in Ghostbusters) is replacing Reese Witherspoon in director Alexander Payne’s science-fiction comedy Downsizing. The actress will co-star with Matt Damon and Christoph Waltz in a film about “an Omaha man who joins the throngs of people undergoing a new process that reduces people to a tiny fraction of their size and who moves to one of the many communities of small people that are sprouting up around the world.”

Mr. Right

Finally today, we have a new clip from Mr. Right, the new crime comedy starring the always watchable Sam Rockwell, Anna Kendrick, and Tim Roth. The film arrives in theaters, On Demand, and on Digital HD on April 8. Enjoy!
