Clever New Video Has Stick Figures Take on MINECRAFT

Minecraft videos aren’t too hard to find on YouTube. From amateur user postings to detailed craft creations, the game continues to inspire us all. Now, combine the imagination of YouTube user Alan Becker from The Animator vs. Animation series, and you’ve got 16 minutes of pure fun and creativity, Minecraft-style.

With a simple but thoroughly enjoyable storyline, five stick figure animation friends interact with a single cube and, ultimately, do battle with one of their own. It’s an adventurous little journey created with all the courageousness, excitement, and drama of playing Minecraft with your own friends. We all know that one person who’s set on destruction and domination on screen, and have a wayward hero with their diamond armor set always ready for the worst, right?

Naturally, crafting and fighting occur throughout the video — and yes, Herobrine does make an appearance — but the highlight is definitely the ending. We felt many feelings with this little group of stick figure dudes: They each have their own individual sense of self with characteristics which continue to build on the previous entries from The Animator vs. Animation. (You can spot little Easter eggs from other videos hidden in the desktop file names!)

There’s also a fascinating behind-the-scenes video to help you get the context on how much time was spend creating this single video. (Hint: It’s an intense total of over 800 hours between Becker and his helpers!) Dedication is an understatement when it comes to this YouTube animator.
