Marvel’s INHUMANS TV Series Offers First Look and New Details

As recently as 2014, Marvel planned to have the Inhumans make their live-action debut on the big screen. However, plans changed, and now Marvel’s royal family of superheroes are getting their own TV show on ABC this fall. Production on the Inhumans series is already well underway, and now we’ve finally received an official first look at the cast in costume, as well as some additional story details.

Entertainment Weekly has posted an interview with Inhumans showrunner Scott Buck, who indicates that the Inhumans’ hidden sanctuary, Attilan, isn’t on Earth at all. And while it isn’t explicitly stated in the piece, that would explain why Attilan hasn’t come into play on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. yet. Buck also reiterated that both series take place in the MCU, but there aren’t currently any plans to crossover the two Marvel shows on ABC.

The first cast photo also made its debut in EW. From left-to-right, that’s Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Ken Leung as Karnak, Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, and Iwan Rheon as Maximus. While the costumes worn by the cast appear to resemble their comic book counterparts, neither Black Bolt nor Medusa are pictured in their iconic masks. The EW report also noted that the show will get around Black Bolt’s silence by letting him communicate through sign language.

“We’re not doing voice over,” said Buck. “If you read the comics, you see Black Bolt does find a way to communicate to people, but he’s also a very enigmatic character as well, and he keeps a lot inside.”

The first two episodes of Inhumans will be released in IMAX theaters on September 1st for a two week run. The eight episode first season will premiere on ABC this fall.
