Listen To Jemaine Clement’s 5 Favorite Songs On KCRW’s ‘Guest DJ Project’

Listen To Jemaine Clement’s 5 Favorite Songs On KCRW’s ‘Guest DJ Project’

Jemaine Clement, one-half of the comedy-folk duo Flight Of The Conchords and writer/director/star of the hilarious new vampire flick What We Do In The Shadows, recently stopped by the KCRW studios to appear on the “Guest DJ Project” show, which also recently featured the musical selections of former Mythbuster Kari Byron.

Alongside host Dan Wilcox, Clement shares with audiences a couple choice songs that inspired his musical aspirations and also scared the shiz out of him as a kid.

The track-listing includes:

1. Kate Bush – “Wuthering Heights”
2. Supertramp – “The Logical Song”
3. Harry Nilsson – “Coconut”
4. Prince – “Housequake”
5. Beck – “Debra”

The segment might be short, but it’s a great appetizer for the upcoming Conchords tour, which is currently being coordinated.

Plus, hot off Beck‘s recent Grammy win for “Album Of The Year,” it’s worth going back into the rock god’s discography and blasting “Debra,” off his excellently bizarre 1999 album Midnite Vultures.

Warning: This song is so sexy, it’s been known to cause pregnancy. In other words, make sure you keep a cup of ice handy because you’re about to get all kinds of hot.

One sec… We’ve got to grab a towel.

[Pats sweat off brow.]

Much better. Like we mentioned before, fans can currently see Clement on the big screen in What We Do In The Shadows, which marks his directorial debut. To hear more about the bloody-awesome project, listen to last week’s episode of the Nerdist Podcast, which featured Clement and his Shadows costar Taika Waititi.

Oh, and keep your eyes peeled for People, Places, Things–another new movie starring our Kiwi crush that debuted at Sundance in January.
