LETHAL WEAPON TV Series Gets an Action Packed Trailer

“I’ve seen a lot of crazy people before, but this dude is in a class by himself.”

And we bet you’re getting too old for this s***, right? Right! Yeah you are.

No, Roger Murtaugh does not say his famous catchphrase in this new trailer for Fox’s upcoming television series Lethal Weapon, adapted from the film franchise starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. But that’s the only real negative to this otherwise great looking glimpse at what’s to come.

The trailer opens with a massive bank robbery, where Martin Riggs has one of the heavily armed assailants put the gun right to his temple so he won’t miss, followed by him taking out the entire crew and calmly walking outside eating a slice of pizza, all while a bomb ticks down. It looks like Riggs is still just the right amount of totally crazy to be totally awesome.

Riggs, “grief-stricken after the loss of his young wife and unborn child” is played by Rectify‘s Clayne Crawford, with Damon Wayans, Sr. in the role of Murtaugh, the “prudent, by-the-book” detective just returning to the job following a heart attack that almost killed him.

There will undoubtedly be fans of the films that are hesitant to see anybody else in these roles, but this trailer looks visually great (like a modern day Miami Vice, only with a lot more humor), and they certainly seem to have captured the spirit of the dynamic between the two partners. Besides, who doesn’t love watching a crazy ass police officer playing by his own rules?

You can never be too old for that s***.

And since Lethal Weapon was written by none other than the great Shane Black, let’s take a look at this chat with the stars of his latest big screen outing, The Nice Guys.
