KONG: SKULL ISLAND Art Show Releases Its Stunning First Piece (Exclusive)

Even if, impossible as it seems, you’ve never seen a King Kong movie, you know what one entails. The giant, fierce, tender Kong is one of the most famous characters in cinematic history, and has become ingrained in our cultural consciousness. And with his latest film about to hit theaters, Kong: Skull Island, a new art show will pay tribute to his over sized role in our society, and we have an exclusive first look at one of the gorgeous posters that will be a part of it.

This incredible poster is the work of artist Kaz Oomori, and it will be one of the pieces at the upcoming “Tribe of Kong” art show at the Bottleneck Gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The show will celebrate the great Kong’s “iconic status” and the release of the new film, with artwork consisting of both “marketing materials and fan art.”

This absolutely beautiful poster conveys the size and fierceness of Kong in a stunning setting. It might be an even better advertisement than the film’s trailers, and that’s saying something, since those have been great.

In addition to official marketing materials from the movie, the gallery will include “seven original pieces from artists around the world commissioned by Poster Posse,” a collective that creates “highly desirable art for the movies you are dying to see.” We’ll also see three original pieces commissioned by Bottleneck Gallery itself, which also promotes artworks about pop culture.

The show, which is being put on in conjunction with Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment, will only have a limited engagement, so if you’re near Williamsburg, don’t delay in getting out there! (As we all know, “it was procrastination killed the beast.”) You can visit the gallery’s site for more details as they become available.

Kong: Skull Island the actual movie hits theaters next week, on March 10th.
