Judd Apatow and Legendary Bring LOVE and Gillian Jacobs to Netflix

We have exciting news for all you Netflix-loving fans out there, and it’s coming directly from within the Legendary family! The streaming service we all worship on the weekends announced this morning that they will be releasing a new original series called Love from Judd Apatow, Paul Rust, and Lesley Arfin in 2016. In an impressive show of confidence, Netflix has committed to 2 seasons of the show with 10 episodes airing in 2016 and 12 more the following year.

The casting rumors that swirled at the beginning of the summer are holding true, and Love will follow the ups and downs of modern romance between Gus, played by Rust, and Mickey, played by Community’s Gillian Jacobs. Legendary Television will  produce the show alongside Apatow Productions, and it will be written by Apatow, Rust and Arfin. With Girls, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Arrested Development, and Comedy Bang! Bang! among their collective writing credits, we cannot wait to see what this team brings to screens big and small. We hope ample opportunities arise for moments sweet, sexy and, let’s be honest because this is Apatow we’re talking about, totally awkward.

“Judd Apatow has a unique comedic voice that manages to be delightful, insightful, and shockingly frank — often at the same time,” said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos in the announcement this morning. “Together with Paul and Lesley, he’s bringing a whole new level of agony and ecstasy to this modern day comedy of manners.”

Netflix has seen success with original series like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black in the last few years, and planning this far out in advance just shows that they are staying in the game to innovate and continue bringing original programming to the masses. We will eagerly await the day we can curl up with our streaming devices and while away an afternoon with Gus and Mickey.
