It’s time to gather ’round the fireplace once more to hear tales from The Storyteller. The Jim Henson series from the late ’80s featured an old man (played by John Hurt, thank you very much) telling tales to the audience and his floppy, adorable talking dog by the fire. It was cozy and intimate, and the Storyteller explored all kinds of myths. Now, Boom! and Archaia are continuing his tradition with comics, publishing The Storyteller: Witches, and they’re releasing Jim Henson’s: The Storyteller: Dragons. Curious about the title? We have an exclusive look at the first issue!

The four part series will follow the Storyteller’s tales about—you guessed it—dragons. The creatures are present in legend and lore around the world in various forms. Sometimes they’re serpents, sometimes they’re worms, and at other times, they’re wyrms. The first issue from writer Fabian Rangel Jr. and writer and artist Daniel Bayliss is inspired by Native American stories. “Son of the Serpent” is about the Horned Snake and the Thunderbird. Here are a couple of the covers:

Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Dragons will be available at your local comic book shop on December 2. But! To make sure you get a copy, add the title to your pull list. You have until Monday, November 9, to tell your retailer you’d like to check out this comic. Subsequent issues will focus on different stories with different creators.

Will you be pre-ordering The Storyteller: Dragons #1? Let me know in the comments.
