Jim Gordon Meets Fish Mooney and Penguin in a New Clip From GOTHAM

The premiere of Gotham is only a few days away, which is fantastic because we’ve seriously been craving to know how the show holds up to expectations. What will a series about the early days of Gotham City look and feel like? What’s to come from the early adventures of Jim Gordon, as he attempts to fight the good fight while being systematically undercut at every turn by crime that’s invaded every part of his professional life? These are the question we’re looking forward to having answered starting Monday, but for now, Fox has released an all new clip to get us ready for the series premiere that’s 100% worth your next couple of minutes:

“All in fun.” Man, that young Penguin (yeah, I called him that) sure is one mean S.O.B., and surely will prove to be an interesting character as the series progresses.

I’m quite fond of what this clip’s showing off. The idea of Jim knowing what’s going on but being powerless to stop it in the moment is, in essence, the foundation the entire series is built upon. Throughout the run of Gotham, we’re going to watch a man of unwavering honorability gets beat down time and time again, but still gets back up because it’s the right thing to do. Even at the city’s worst, Jim will always find a way to fight, which is the reason Batman later goes on to view him as such an important ally in his war to save the city of Gotham from the binding grip of corruption.

Gotham premieres Monday at 8/7c on Fox.
