Next JAMES BOND Film Lands Danny Boyle as Director

Earlier this year, rumors circulated that Danny Boyle—the director of Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, and Slumdog Millionaire—was the top choice to helm the next James Bond movie. While the studio has yet to make its announcement, Boyle publicly confirmed the news during an event for Trust, his new FX drama series.

Via Metro, Boyle said he is planning Bond’s latest adventure with his frequent collaborator, screenwriter John Hodge. Additionally, Boyle plans to film a new project with screenwriter Richard Curtis in the next few weeks before moving on to the 25th 007 film at the end of this year.

Bond’s latest cinematic adventure will reportedly be the very last time we see Daniel Craig as 007, following a tenure that began in 2006’s Casino Royale and continued through the three sequels that followed: Quantum of SolaceSkyfall, and Spectre. We don’t know yet what story the latest Bond film will tell, as Boyle is being unsurprisingly tight-lipped about the story he and Hodge are working on. One prevalent rumor is that it will take place prior to Casino Royale, a notion that doubles down on the conclusion of Spectre as this iteration of Bond’s decision to leave the spy life behind. No matter what, we’re eager to see his take on the character get a truly memorable exit.

The currently untitled James Bond sequel is tentatively set to hit theaters on November 19, 2019.
