INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 3 Teaser Hits the Web, Reveals Sequel Is Actually a Prequel

Horror fans, rejoice! The trailer for the third installment of the blockbuster horror franchise Insidious has dropped and more information about the movie has been revealed, including the fact that it’s a prequel.

Up until this point, plot details had been scarce for the directorial debut of franchise co-creator, writer and star Leigh Whannell, but this morning we got our first look at the third chapter, due out in May 2015. The trailer is putting a lot of emphasis on going “back to the beginning” and even utilizes “Tip Toe Through the Tulips,” the song associated with actor (and composer!) Joe Bishara’s infamous “Lipstick-Face Demon” from the first chapter. Could the monster who looks like Darth Maul’s creepy cousin be making another appearance? That remains to be seen, but the ominous black, gooey footprints leading up the wall in the teaser might hint at his return.

The official synopsis for Insidious: Chapter 3 is below.

“The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. This chilling prequel, set before the haunting of the Lambert family, reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott) who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.”

And, if you have questions about the new movie, Whannell himself will be doing a live Facebook Q&A this afternoon at 4PM PST on the Insidious facebook page!

Thoughts on the teaser, horror fans? I love it, and the buzz around the film so far is very good. We’ll see what happens when Insidious: Chapter 3 hits theaters in May 2015!

If quick flashes and REALLY loud sounds scare you, then this is your movie. I would prefer more than a string of cheap jump scares.

Why is the ghost of Tiny Tim haunting that girl?
