These INITIAL D-Inspired Model Cars Jump Right out of the Manga

If you’ve been around a convention or two, you have probably seen some cosplayers do such an amazing job with their makeup that they look like 3D versions of the game or comic they are portraying. Twitter user SHINGA seems to have been inspired by these types of cosplayers and applied that to his model cars.

Reported by Kotaku, SHINGA took these two cars and painted them in the style of the manga Initial D, by Shuichi Shigeno. Set in the world of illegal Japanese street racing, Initial D tells the story of Takumi Fujiwara and his ultimate dream of becoming the fastest driver of all time.

The cars look amazing on their own, but when you add them to the diorama, it’s reminiscent of a pop-up book. When you get a closer look at the detail of each car, it looks like SHINGA’s perspective is that the cars are the canvas, and rather than just paint them, he creates on them.

From cars to airplanes, to even spaceships, the point of models is to give you the power to create something you love. SHINGA’s talent has helped him get about as close as you can get to that.

So what do you think? What other types of models/comics/manga would you like to receive this type of treatment? How would Dom Toretto fair against THESE cars? Let me know on Twitter @donnielederer or sound off in the comments below.
