HURRICANE HEIST Trailer Looks Like the Best Kind of Nonsense Disaster Film

You’ve got to love a trailer that shamelessly uses “Rock You Like a Hurricane” to set up its goofball premise the way that The Hurricane Heist does. This is one pre-summer movie that was off of our storm radar until it debuted a truly, and hilariously, insane trailer over at Collider. Here’s the short version of the film’s story: Thieves are coming to steal hundreds of million dollars from the U.S. Mint just as a massive storm hits. Hence the tagline, “$600 million stolen at 600 miles per hour.”

And what brave hero would stand up to these thieves? Why it’s former Lost star Maggie Grace, playing Casey, the last Treasury agent in town. Even when she manages to escape the facility, the bad guys are still tracking Casey down because she has the only code to get into the vault. Fortunately, she has some help from a stormchaser named Will (Toby Kebbell) and his nutty brother, Breeze, as played by True Blood veteran, Ryan Kwanten. And yes, he really is called Breeze.

If the tone of this insanity seems familiar to you, it’s probably because this movie was directed by Rob Cohen, the man who launched The Fast and the Furious and xXx franchises. There’s definitely a taste of both of those movies in these clips, especially at the end when the trucks start losing the money and a few of our heroes literally get carried away by the intense winds. It’s almost like someone slammed a Roland Emmerich disaster film into a chase movie. And that’s far too ridiculous to pass up. We’ve got to see this in action.

The Hurricane Heist is gonna “make it rain” on Friday, March 9.
