Adam Goldberg is Crowdfunding a HEBREW HAMMER Sequel in Which He’ll Fight Nazis

In January 2003, The Hebrew Hammer slammed its fist into screens at Sundance before taking on the international film festival scene, followed by its debut broadcast on Comedy Central, and ultimately to theaters. Now, comedian Adam Goldberg wants to bring the black-coated, yarmulke-adorned badass back. According to EW, Goldberg, director Jonathan Kesselman, and producer Harrison Huffman have launched a crowdfunding effort to make The Hebrew Hammer vs Hitler a reality.

The sequel has been in the works almost since the first movie earned cult status a decade ago, but Goldberg is sounding the shofar now because of a growing anti-Semitic political climate that he feels has made the Hammer’s coming out of retirement inevitable.

The crowdfunding pitch video (which brings back Judy Greer!) is tongue-in-cheek, but it also deals with some seriously depressing stuff, like the nature of the tweets Goldberg has seen directed at him in the past year. And, yes, the video’s sketch revolves around Donald Trump being elected president, the racist hate mail that Goldberg has received, and personal memos to pick up anti-itch cream.

There’s also plenty of matzo and Manischewitz wine coolers to make the bitter pills go down easy. No doubt the exploitation send-up is looking to satirize our current culture by sending the Hammer back in time to smash Hitler in his half-mustached face.

If they can bring Melvin Van Peebles back, they can have my money.
