Happy Holidays from SNL and Drunk Uncle!

Happy Holidays from SNL and Drunk Uncle!

Just in time for the holidays, Saturday Night Live‘s Bobby Moynihan sat down with Time Out New York to discuss his beloved and completely outrageous Weekend Update character Drunk Uncle. For those who might be unfamiliar, Drunk Uncle is a character based on the member of your family who gets boozed up at the family dinner table saying horribly inappropriate things.

During the interview, Monyihan revealed that he thinks that all of the Update characters are actually related, explaining, “You know, I think all of those characters on Update come from one family. I always call [Drunk Uncle’s] wife Linda because I joke around that it’s [Kristen Wiig’s character] Aunt Linda, and Stefon is their son. The Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation with at the Party is their daughter. And Jacob lives next door but Drunk Uncle doesn’t talk to him because he’s Jewish.” When asked if he thinks Drunk Uncle will get a big send off when that character is over, similar to Stefon’s fabulous gay wedding, Monyihan replied, “Drunk Uncle is the opposite of Stefon. He’s so dark. The only way to finish it is just that he’s dead. He’s going to die on Update, and that’s it.”

In this sexy and slightly sloppy photo shoot below, behold the many looks of Drunk Uncle from “Dinosaur Action Figure Drunk Uncle” to “Holiday Centerfold Drunk Uncle” and, of course, “Chase the Housecat Drunk Uncle.”

Saturday Night Live returns this Saturday with host James Franco and musical guest Nicki Minaj.
