They’ve been at it since the early 90s, but over the past 25 years or so, Garbage hasn’t shown any signs of losing the dark edge that helped make them such a hot commodity in the first place. The band released their sixth album, Strange Little Birds, about a year ago now, and today, they’ve returned with a new single called “No Horses,” and it’s full of brooding and driving energy that shows no signs of aging.
“‘No Horses’ is basically a dream fueled anxiety attack. A dark imagining of the future in which a presiding regime values only profit and success leaving no room for tiny beautiful things, small gestures and great beasts.”
The loud-quiet dynamics translate this vision perfectly to audio, and hopefully it means they have a new album on the way. That said, it seems more likely that this is a non-album single, since profits from sales and streaming are set to go to the International Committee of the Red Cross through the end of 2018.
