See How GAME OF THRONES Burned the Tarlys Alive with Dragonfire (Exclusive)

Editor’s Note: this post contains spoilers from season seven of Game of Thrones — don’t say we didn’t warn ya! (‘Cuz we did. Just now.)

If you’re a player on Game of Thrones, the chances are VERY GOOD that you’ll end up burned by someone. But it wasn’t until Dany and her dragons made the move to Westeros in season seven that you could get literally burned up by a someTHING far greater than a measly man with fire. (No offense, The Hound.) And as far as burns go, there may be none greater than that bestowed upon Randyll and Dickon (heh) Tarly in “Eastwatch” this past season, where the last known heirs to Horn Hill ended up as piles of dust after pissing off Dany for not bending the knee.

But how, exactly, do you pull off turning two full-grown human men into literal dragon toast without it looking corny as heck? With a lot of time and creative energy, as evidenced in this week’s exclusive clip from The Game Revealed, HBO’s technical companion series that breaks down the season’s greatest feats of effects strength.

Our favorite part of the whole, highly dangerous affair were definitely the deeply silly (and yet incredibly lifelike) silicon masks the poor, enflamed stunt men had to wear, with the pain of a fiery end emblazoned on their faux-faces. (Seriously, it’s too goofy to be anything but perfect.) You can watch the full episode here!

But what’s your favorite? What do you think of House Tarly’s fiery end? Looking forward to Samwell ending up as the Lord of Horn Hill? Let us know in the comments below!
