FINAL FANTASY XIV: HEAVENSWARD Themed PlayStation Consoles Incoming

Final Fantasy is sort of a big deal, despite some of the hate the franchise has garnered in the past few years. Final Fantasy XIV in particular has been a big hit for Square Enix. So much so, that Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia has announced a slew of new special edition consoles for the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV: Heaevensward. There will be two PlayStation 4 versions, one in black and one in white– yes, admittedly sort of bland. Only the removable faceplate includes the etched expansion logo. That’s not all though– both the PS Vita and PS TV are getting the same beautification treatment. Both not so loved consoles will be in white and feature some fantastic art work on them. The Vita has some sweet decals prominently displayed on the back touchpad while the PS TV has golden artwork on top.

These consoles will be launching alongside the expansion on June 23 of this year in Japan. No word on these sleek variants making their way to the West, but chances are they won’t. Plenty of these types of special edition releases have never been sold outside of Japan. I’m still salty that I never got a shot at purchasing the Frozen-themed PS4. Importing is an option, but that’s just too much work (and money). I guess I will just let it go– the cold never bothered me anyway.

Feast your eyes on these bad boys in the photo gallery below. That PS Vita is calling my name.

If you are on the hunt for a unique home console and don’t live in Japan, there is always the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight PS4 variant. At least Heavensward looks like it’s going to be a complete blast, so fans have a lot to look forward to. One final request, let us know in the comments section below what you think of these special variants.
