FANTASTIC FOUR Returns to Comics This Summer

FANTASTIC FOUR Returns to Comics This Summer

It’s been almost three years since Marvel published an issue of Fantastic Four, as the first family of superheroes was marginalized and shifted out of the spotlight. But this summer, the Fantastic Four are officially getting their comeback in a brand new monthly series.

During a brief interview on Marvel’s Twitter account, editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski revealed the new Fantastic Four creative team: writer Dan Slott and artist Sara Pichelli. Story details are currently under wraps, but Cebulski did indicate that Marvel Two-In-One, Chip Zdarsky’s monthly book starring the Thing and the Human Torch, will continue as well. The initial storyline of Marvel Two-In-One has focused on Thing and Human Torch’s attempts to find Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman, both of whom disappeared years ago.

The final pages of Secret Wars revealed the fate of Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman, as they went on a mission to rebuild the Marvel multiverse that was destroyed prior to that event. Cebulski said that all four original members of the Fantastic Four will be starring in the new title, which means Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman will either have achieved their goal or passed it off to someone else.

There’s a very different world awaiting the FF upon their return. Their oldest adversary, Doctor Doom, has been attempting to remake himself into a hero in their absence. But considering Doom’s hatred of Mr. Fantastic, we suspect he’ll be falling back into his villainous ways any day now.
