EDGE OF TOMORROW Gets the GROUNDHOG DAY Style Trailer it Deserves

“Military man Bill Cage has a new assignment–and he’s spending the day fighting aliens, but he’s about to find out he’s not just stuck in a war, he’s stuck on the edge of tomorrow. Because Bill is living the same day over and over again.”

The story of Bill Murray forced to experience the same exact day again and again is such an iconic and ingrained part of our culture that any other character–in any other medium–that is forced to relive the same day repeatedly is said to be stuck in their own Groundhog Day. So it’s only appropriate that we finally have an Edge of Tomorrow trailer done in the style of Phil Connors’ nightmare in Punxsutawney.

This is another edition of Mashable Watercooler‘s Trailer Mix, where films get re-cut trailers in different genres, or in the style of other films that share something in common with them. Considering Tom Cruise‘s Cage keeps going back to the same moment anytime he dies, you couldn’t have matched the movie (also known as Live. Die. Repeat..) up with a better doppelganger.

If you want to really appreciate this new trailer, though, you should take a quick second to watch the original Groundhog Day trailer too.

Oh, and in case you are one of the lucky people that can read or hear about the Tom Cruise movie without getting a certain song stuck in your head, well that’s not fair so I insist you watch this other Edge of Tomorrow fan-made trailer.

DEAL WITH IT.

Oh, and Saved By the Bell: The College Years got a raw deal.
