DEADPOOL Celebrates 2nd Anniversary By Photobombing Other Blu-rays

Ah, 2016. Seems so long ago, doesn’t it? As we hopefully awaited the big beginning of the DC Cinematic universe, binged Daredevil vs. Punisher on Netflix, and wondered who exactly Rogue One‘s Jyn Erso would turn out to be, the superhero movie world got rocked by a guy in red and black, and Ryan Reynolds finally found a role that would let his weird, dirty, free-associative sense of humor and perfectly muscular body work together as one. It was the year of Deadpool, and our lives would never be the same. I mean, they’d be the same in many areas. Just not the one in which our lives were lacking a good Deadpool movie.

To celebrate this two year anniversary, and to lure in the people who somehow haven’t bought Deadpool on Blu-ray yet, Fox is busting out a new anniversary edition of the movie on April 24. Available at Best Buy and Walmart, it will include stickers, car decals, temporary tattoos and a set of paper dolls “that will allow fans to bring even their most depraved Wade Wilson fantasies to life.” The Best Buy steelbook version has two exclusive patches and a threesome joke on the cover:

Then, starting May 15 at Walmart, various other Fox movies are going to get photo-bombed by Mr. Pool himself. Look for all-new covers that include the Merc With a Mouth on the likes of Edward Scissorhands, Predator, Revenge of the Nerds, War for the Planet of the Apes, and most appropriately, Logan. As you can see by the included paper dolls (above, and below), Wade is a little bit fixated. There may be other titles included in the promotion too–one would hope all involved might see the humor in redecorating X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The photobombed discs and the anniversary edition will also include Fandango Movie Money to use towards the purchase of Deadpool 2 tickets. So if you were going to do that anyway, it’s a pretty good deal. As with the previous release, the Blu-ray extras include two commentary tracks (Tim Miller/Rob Liefeld, and Ryan Reynolds/Paul Wernick/Rhett Reese), deleted scenes with or without commentary, gag reel, “fun sack” of promos and the like, and various galleries.

Does Deadpool deserve a double-dip? Be sure to express yourself in comment below.
