Criminal Poacher Forced To Watch BAMBI Over and Over Again By Judge

If you ever wanted those mean ol’ hunters who killed poor Bambi’s mom to get their just desserts, then here’s a piece of news that’ll likely put a smile on your face: As reported by the Springfield News-Leader (via The Washington Post), a poacher from Missouri named David Berry Jr., who was responsible for the illegal killing of “several hundred deer” over a three-year period, has been ordered to watch Walt Disney’s animated classic  Bambi once a month from jail, as a special addition to his sentence mandated by the judge. We reached out to the Springfield News-Leader for confirmation, but have not heard back at time of publication.Court records dictate that Berry Jr. “is to view the Walt Disney movie Bambi, with the first viewing being on or before December 23, 2018, and at least one such viewing each month thereafter, during Defendants incarceration in the Lawrence County Jail.” Considering he was sentenced to a year in jail, this means that Berry is going to be sitting through the “Little April Shower” song and hearing young Bambi learn how to say “bird” quite a few times throughout 2019. We are pretty sure Walt Disney never intended for this to be the use of one of his animated films, but we also think he would probably applaud it.

If you ask us, this sounds less like prison, a lot more like the “ Harmony Hut“from the classic movie Addams Family Values, but if it teaches some empathy to some people who don’t have any, then we’re all for it. Two other men were arrested alongside David Berry Jr. for the same crime, but so far, they have escaped the Bambi-watching “punishment.” But if there’s any justice in this world, they’ll be hearing Thumper do his thump twelve times next year too.
