Cooking Up Cuteness at New Hello Kitty Hot Pot Restaurant

It’s a scientific fact that food shaped like Hello Kitty tastes better. Why eat regular cupcakes when you can eat Hello Kitty cupcakes? Why eat boring dim sum when you can eat Hello Kitty dim sum? In all cases, Hello Kitty shaped food makes your tummy that much more kawaii.

There are a number of Hello Kitty restaurants all over the world and each time one opens we’re green with envy here in America. Not just because we want to consume kitty-face rice bowls, but because overseas restaurants tend to go all out. This new Hello Kitty hot pot restaurant in Taiwan takes Sanrio love to the next level.

At Hello Kitty Shabu-Shabu in Taipei, Hello Kitty’s face graces everything from the serving ware and light fixtures to dishes, drinks and desserts. To set themselves apart from other Hello Kitty-themed restaurants, they’ve rebranded Hello Kitty by replacing her red bow with a camellia flower, a design unique to this restaurant.

Shabu-shabu is the style of cooking where you add high-quality, thinly sliced meat and vegetables to individual pots of boiling water. You’d think there wouldn’t be an easy way to incorporate Hello Kitty into this particular type of cooking but you’d be wrong. Here Hello Kitty is everywhere, from bowls of rice shaped like Hello Kitty’s head to stamped tofu with her image, shaped mochi and even teeny tiny sliced vegetables that look like her little face. You haven’t lived until you’ve eaten a boiled sweet potato shaped like Hello Kitty’s head.

Not only that, desserts and beverages also feature Kitty’s face, all the way down to the drink ice cubes. Oh, those adorable ice cubes. Shaped like Hello Kitty’s head of course, because any other ice cube shape is a disgrace to ice cubes.he restaurant owners want you to remember your dining experience fondly so they offer complimentary gifts of coasters and bibs to take home.

Who knew the act of adding thinly sliced beef to boiling water could be so adorable? After seeing this, I’ll never be able to eat normal hot pot again. I’ll constantly be searching the waters for the piece of carrot shaped like Hello Kitty’s face.
