Conan O’Brien Remembers David Bowie with Humorous Highlights

As we collectively mourn the recent passing of David Bowie, we reflect on the many treasures that his career yielded, whether it was his music, his acting, his fashion, or anything else he may have contributed to the pop culture zeitgeist. All of his accomplishments were made possible thanks to, along with his talent, his personality.

Conan O’Brien has been hosting a talk show in one form or another since the ’90s, so it’s natural that he had his share of run-ins with Bowie, and they always allowed Bowie to show off a side of his personality that isn’t immediately obvious through his music or performances. It also made for great television, so Conan decided to honor his former guest with a highlight package of Bowie’s appearances on the show.

“People are remembering today what a phenomenal musician David Bowie was, and of course that was the case,” Conan said while introducing the segment.”He was just mind-blowingly talented, but in my experience he was also an incredibly nice person. He was fun, he was always funny.”

Conan and Bowie have been through a lot together on-air… or at least a lot of Bowie’s (in)famous hairstyles. Featured here is the spiked blonde hair and goatee combo, his long brown hair and his medium-length dark blonde hair. Bowie was a good sport in a bit where Conan reminisced about some of Bowie’s former personas, which included the Suave Hunchback and the Bucktooth Wizard.

Conan also shared highlights of a segment that Bowie once participated in, called Bowie Secrets, in which he revealed some surprising “facts” about his career. Watch that below, and check out the retrospective above.
