This Bird Really Loves to Sing Queen Songs

This Bird Really Loves to Sing Queen Songs

Freddie Mercury tragically passed away at the age of 45 due to complications from AIDS almost 26 years ago this month. While Mercury’s life was cut short, his musical legacy lives on with the classic songs of his band, Queen. While Queen’s music was very much a product of the ’70s and ’80s, their songs also have a timeless quality that has helped them remain fan favorites for decades. Apparently that fandom can extend to the animal kingdom.

Via Laughing Squid, YouTube user MrsStr1 posted a video that features her cockatiel bird, MAY-cyan, perched on the shoulder of a Freddie Mercury figure belting out a melody of two Queen songs: “Another One Bites the Dust” and “Radio GaGa.”

It’s not clear if MAY-cyan has achieved mastery of any other Queen songs, but she apparently has alternate takes on both of the previous songs, which you can see below.

Not every bird chooses to fly its Queen fandom flag in the same way. In this clip from Alex Rosco Pakalov, a parrot named Snowball dances up a storm to the beat of “Another One Bites the Dust.”

If there was any way to top these musically inclined Queen-loving birds, we would hope that some feathered friend out there could entertain us with their rendition of the ultimate Queen song: “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Sadly, we couldn’t find anything like that on YouTube. But hopefully someday, it will come to pass.

What did you think about MAY-cyan’s Queen covers? Let us know in the comment section below!
