BLACK PANTHER Poster Has T’Challa Looking Badass

Marvel’s Black Panther doesn’t hit theaters until February, but it looks like Marvel isn’t wasting any time getting people pumped to see the film. They’ve released the first poster for the movie, and it looks utterly badass. What are you waiting for? Take a peek!

T’Challa (played by Chadwick Boseman) looks incredibly intense sitting on his vibranium throne in Wakanda. Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Boseman as the Black Panther. We all fell in love with T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War, and MCU fans have been incredibly excited to get a closer look into the character and the land of Wakanda. But before you get bummed out that there’s only a poster to look at, I’ve got some good news for you: Marvel has announced that it will be releasing the film’s first teaser trailer tonight during Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Get excited, and make sure your Friday night plans include watching the game!

Of course, the big story here is the huge and important steps forward that this film is making in representation of people of color. If public response to Wonder Woman has shown us anything, it’s just how important and affirming representation can be.

The poster itself is pretty amazing and important, as it not only prominently features Chadwick Boseman (he’s the only guy on the poster, after all), but he’s not wearing his mask. The weight of seeing a black man featured prominently in the role of king and superhero has got the internet freaking out in excitement.

It’s so incredibly exciting to see comic book movies get better at representation. The film is certainly exciting and important for adult fans, but seeing a hero like T’Challa onscreen will have a huge, positive effect on young kids of color. Representation is so important, especially for kids, and we can’t wait to see the impact that Black Panther is going to have on both fans and the MCU at large.

Don’t forget to tune into Game 4 tonight, and tell us what you think of the poster in the comments!
