Yellowjackets episode four ended with quite the explosive revelation. There was a lot going on both timelines but no one saw a major death coming in the present timeline. Yellowjackets ended that episode with a truly shocking revelation that Lottie is now dead.

The death of Lottie in Yellowjackets is quite the wild turn of events, especially considering we didn’t see very much of her in her final episode. In one scene, she stands alone and practices an apology, seemingly meant for Shauna after their big argument last episode. We also see her leaving the bank and having a very brief phone call with Tai, who asks Lottie what she meant by saying that she and Van will see about whether It was pleased or not. Lottie says she doesn’t remember and rushes Tai off the phone to catch a ride.

At the very end of the episode, Misty is on the Citizen Detective board when she gets a message from Walter asking if she’s okay. He says he heard about Lottie, Misty clicks on a photo, and it shows a dead Lottie on a floor. We go to the crime scene, which appears to be at the bottom of basement stairs. She’s surrounded by burnt out candles and there’s blood coming from her head. The death of Lottie and her body are the sad last images of this episode of Yellowjackets.

YELLOWJACKETS Season 3 Answers a Big Question About An Important Item

It is wild that Lottie, who almost seemed like Yellowjackets’ most invincible character, is dead. In subsequent episodes, there was much speculation among the remaining teammates about who killed Lottie.

In episode 7, Misty, Van, Tai, and Shauna are on their way to Virginia to confront the person who sent the tape, who is later confirmed to be Melissa. Walter calls and says that the DNA under Lottie’s nails matches a strand of hair from Shauna. With the way she acted all season long, it seemed like Shauna was guilty, even though she tried to place the blame on Melissa.

The finale reveals that the DNA evidence makes sense; however, it is not Shauna who killed Lottie. It was Callie, Shauna’s daughter, which explains the DNA. Yeah, it’s so ridiculous. Apparently, when Lottie left Shauna’s house, she took that tape with her. Callie went to Lottie’s apartment building to confront her about it and also questions if her mom really loves her or not. It’s clearly a moment where she needs positive affirmations and support, but instead Lottie was being Lottie.

And by that, I mean being weird AF and telling a teenager that her mother and friends were hunting and eating each other in the woods. She also keeps saying that It was inside Callie because she replaced the Wilderness baby that was lost. Callie is scared and a bit angry at being compared to her frankly psychotic mom. She pushes Lottie down the steps, Lottie hits her head and dies, and Callie takes the tape and runs off. Welp.

For now, Jeff and Callie are living in some undisclosed location to get away from Shauna. Callie did tell Jeff that she killed Lottie and Misty figured it out before then. Shauna also knows the truth, thanks to Misty. Maybe she will take the fall for it. Or maybe Shauna will kill everyone next season. We shall see. Just like Van, Lottie deserved a much better ending.
