“Once upon a time…” The Yellowjackets trailer begins to weave its tale as the haunting sound of Florence Welch’s “I’m Just a Girl” cover fills our ears. And this makes a lot of sense to us because we’ve always said that Yellowjackets is telling us a fairy tale, at least where the girls’ time in the wilderness is concerned. After that, pure mayhem breaks loose. Season two of Yellowjackets promised a focus on female rage, and we are feeling it. What is fantasy? And what is reality? What does it mean to be saved? And where can you truly find freedom? The Yellowjackets season two trailer elegantly poses all these questions.

Take a look at the trailer:

The official synopsis for season two of Yellowjackets gives us a more coherent framework for the story. It notes:

The Yellowjackets barely made it through summer, but now as winter begins to bite, we’ll see if hunger and desperation turn into full-on psychosis. Meanwhile, 25 years later, each survivor must determine if the darkness is coming for them or from them. Season 2 premieres March 24.

Showtime

The Yellowjackets season two trailer once again highlights the show’s perfect casting as it weaves through the past and present timelines and visits with each of our main characters in turn. There may have been psychosis in the woods, but society doesn’t seem to treat our leading ladies much better. But maybe Lottie can help? She doesn’t seem like she’s actually been in a mental institution in Switzerland all this time. We also see glimpses of the Antler Queen but get no look yet are her reigning in full. And, of course, a look at what appears to be our first dead victim… or should we call it… dinner? We also adore seeing adult Van and Taissa reunited. The scene is so touching we can feel the emotion in just a brief split second.

So, what happened out there? It seems like Yellowjackets season two will go a long way to give us some answers. But we’re sure we’ll only get ten more mysteries to solve.
