A little while ago, we learned that we would be seeing a Thunderbolts movie as a part of the MCU’s phase five. In fact, this movie will conclude the phase. Of course, immediately, speculation began on who exactly would make up the Thunderbolts in the MCU. Many Marvel characters have been part of the Thunderbolts team over the years, so it was a bit hard to narrow down. But now, thanks to Marvel Studios’ panel at D23, we know who we will see join the MCU Thunderbolts.

Who Is a Part of the Official MCU Thunderbolts Team Roster?

Who makes up the MCU Thunderbolts team? Valentina, red guardian, Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, US Agent, and Taskmaster high res

Drumroll, please. The MCU’s Thunderbolts line-up contains: Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine, Ghost, Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes (a.k.a Winter Soldier), US Agent, and Taskmaster. That’s quite the line-up. Many MCU fans hoped to see especially Bucky Barnes, Ghost, and Yelena Belova join in the Thunderbolt. So folks, should be happy. There’s no word yet if Bucky will also appear in the upcoming Captain America 4: New World Order. There’s also no word yet if the MCU Thunderbolts will involve Baron Zemo.

In the comics, Zemo serves as the leader of the Thunderbolts at times. So his recent MCU return in Falcon and the Winter Soldier seemed like it might be indicative. He does have a relationship with Bucky Barnes now. Maybe he just doesn’t count as part of the team if he’s the Thunderbolts leader.

It will be fascinating to see how all these MCU figures come together into one unit.

The Phase 5 Thunderbolts Movie

Marvel Studios

Thunderbolts will arrive to the MCU at the conclusion of its Phase 5. The tentative release date for the film is July 26, 2024. Of course, things could change between now and then. Red Guardian David Harbour has teased fans that “As it ends a big phase of Marvel, there is a big bomb that we universe-drop in the movie that’s really cool.” But no further details on what that bomb entails have been released. Additionally, Harbour offered that the MCU Thunderbolts team are the “the losers” of the MCU superheroes. And that “it’s fun to watch [them] just mess everything up.”

We can’t wait to see more of what’s to come for this motley crew. One thing is for sure, this will be an adventure of epic, but chaotic, proportions.
