Droids are some of the best parts of the galaxy far, far away. Star Wars has released some iconic droids over the years, from R2-D2 to BB-8 to K-2SO and so many more. And now, we’re meeting a new droid in Obi-Wan Kenobi, but this robot may spell bad news for our heroes.

Is the Droid From Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s trailer 4-LOM?

In an article from Uproxx, Obi-Wan Kenobi director Deborah Chow reveals more about our new droid. The publication first asks whether Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s droid is actually 4-LOM. 4-LOM is a droid from The Empire Strikes Back that Darth Vader hired to track down Han Solo. Of course, Boba Fett actually ends up getting the bounty on Han.

While Chow acknowledges the confusion, she also confirms that the Obi-Wan Kenobi droid isn’t 4-LOM but instead is 1-JAC.

She notes:

That’s not actually 4-LOM though, it is actually a different droid named 1-JAC. Everyone thinks it’s 4-LOM… It’s similar.

But how similar remains a mystery for now.

Who Is 1-JAC?

Chow goes on to say that to learn more about 1-JAC, we are “going to have to wait and see.” However, we feel pretty confident that 1-JAC embraces the dark side. When the interviewer notes to Chow that the new droid looks like bad news, she responds, “They usually are.”

1-JAC certainly does look like bad news as it fires two blaster pistols at Obi-Wan on Daiyu, a new planet we’ll visit in the show.

You can see the droid in action below. 1-JAC appears at around :52 seconds into the trailer.

Interestingly, we see 1-JAC appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s trailer while the voiceover says, “I want every low-life and bounty hunter to squeeze him.” So maybe that’s a clue about where the droid fits into the show.

We’ll find out for sure when Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on May 27.
