Alexa, play “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” because Thor: Love and Thunder‘s first teaser trailer has finally landed. Marvel fans, and especially those who count Thor as their favorite hero, have waited a long time for this Thor trailer to land. In fact, it may have been a record wait. But all that is in the past now. Because we finally have our first look at the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder movie and we feel very excited about what’s to come.

A release for the first Thor: Love and Thunder teaser trailer offers more about the film, sharing:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. Directed by Waititi (“Thor: Ragnarok,” “Jojo Rabbit”) and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, “Thor: Love and Thunder” opens in theaters July 8, 2022.

Well, that’s honestly a pretty comprehensive review of what we might expect from the movie. The trailer shows us Thor as he reflects on his journey so far and notes that he has to find out exactly who he is. It has been a rough time for Thor in the MCU. He’s lost his brother, he lost his nation, he gave up his crown. Now he’s just Thor, a sweet child, as it were. But Marvel heroes can almost never find serenity.

Despite the coming darkness, the teaser reminds us the movie will also likely feature a lot of humor and heart, especially during the parts of the film where the Guardians of the Galaxy come into play. We also get to see a glimpse of the much-teased “Goat Boat.” And who doesn’t love mythical goats? Of course, the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer concludes by giving us our first look at the Mighty Thor, a.k.a. Jane Foster. And, well, she looks good and very powerful.

Marvel also released a full poster for the movie. The poster promises even more ’80s fun.
