Well it’s official:  Bob’s Burgers is leaving television. Oh, it wasn’t cancelled or anything. Sorry! We wouldn’t be so glib about something that terrible. No, this is good news. The popular Fox animated series is making the move to the big screen for a feature film. When they get there, the Belchers will have a giant problem that could totally sink the business. Both literally and metaphorically. Fortunately (maybe?) the kids are on the case to save everyone’s favorite burger joint. But The Bob’s Burgers Movie‘s first trailer assures us that even though the show is going big time and dealing with a big problem that doesn’t mean the family will be any less absurd.

Anyone else want a cheeseburger now? Yeah, same. This is both an excellent trailer for a comedy and an excellent commercial for burgers in general. The latter has nothing to do with Linda’s “sexy burger” costume, though. That was probably a better idea on paper. But we always appreciate her enthusiasm. Why is she helping her husband hawk their delicious fare outside an amusement park? And why do the kids have climbing gear? The film’s official synopsis reveals what’s really going on.

From 20th Century Studios:

“The Bob’s Burgers Movie is an animated, big-screen, musical comedy-mystery-adventure based on the long-running Emmy-winning series. The story begins when a ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bob’s Burgers, blocking the entrance indefinitely and ruining the Belchers’ plans for a successful summer. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family’s restaurant. As the dangers mount, these underdogs help each other find hope and fight to get back behind the counter, where they belong.”

A “musical comedy-mystery-adventure.” Oh yeah. Serve that up with some fries and we’ll be good to go when the film comes to theaters May 27.

The Bob’s Burgers Movie stars Kristen Schaal, H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Larry Murphy, Zach Galifianakis, Kevin Kline, and David Wain. Bernard Derriman directs with the show’s creator, co-director is Loren Bouchard. With a screenplay from Bouchard & Nora Smith. The sexy burger costume is also accounted for. But you’re responsible for your own cheeseburgers.
