There’s really no such thing as a bad Halloween, but some of them are clearly better than others. And although it’s still summertime, this year’s upcoming spooky season already qualifies as one of the really good ones. October will mark the return of our favorite spooky household to the big screen, in the all-new animated film The Addams Family, which just released its first full trailer. It shows the kooky clan is just as weird, macabre, and full of joy as ever, but this time they are on the move to a new home. They are packing up and heading to one of the strangest places in the whole world, New Jersey, where their new neighbors aren’t quite as excited to see them as we are. The one thing we can all agree on is that this movie looks like it has it… or, at least, Itt.

So much for the New Jersey welcome committee, but it’s a big day for resurrected frogs.

As unabashed lovers of the Addamses, we’d be excited for this movie no matter who was in it, but it also features an amazing cast. Oscar Isaac stars as the patriarch of the family, Gomez; Charlize Theron voices the brains and beauty of the operation, Morticia; Chloë Grace Moretz and Finn Wolfhard play their children, Wednesday and Pugsley; finally, Nick Kroll plays Uncle Fester and Bette Midler plays Grandma Addams.

Voicing their blonde-haired neighbor and the person who leads the revolt against them is Allison Janney. Her character, Margaux Needler, was previously described as a “nefarious reality TV makeover queen” that is “consumed with a desire for absolute suburban pastel perfection.” We’re not sure Lurch will be up for a makeover, but we’d like to see her try giving him one anyway.

Directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan (Sausage Party), The Addams Family returns to the big screen in time to make this year’s Halloween one of the better spooky seasons, on October 11.
