It’s one of the great comeuppances in recent cinematic history. After the Mad Titan Thanos snapped half of humanity away in Avengers: Infinity War, Tony Stark finally got even with the jerk in Endgame and snapped his purple butt into oblivion. Who didn’t get a small jolt of satisfaction seeing Thanos turn to dust after everything he’d put us through in the previous two films?

Via Geekologie, we’ve discovered one artist and MCU fan who has created a stunning work of art commemorating this moment, one that is enshrined forever thanks to the magic of the internet.

Artist  Steven Richter recorded some time-lapse footage of himself sculpting a very detailed an movie-accurate sculpture of Thanos, and then once he was finished with his creation, he turned Thanos into so much dust. The sculpture itself took Richter four hours. The animation of the sculpture turning to dust took another two hours. Like a meticulously decorated cake, this Thanos sculpture just wasn’t meant to last very long. But as the Vision said in Avengers: Age of Ultron, “a thing isn’t beautiful because it lasts.”

Richter has made some other impressive pop-culture inspired sculptures in the past, including an incredible Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz. Appropriately enough, that one melts (what a world, what a world). But he’s also got a Thanos/Cable mash-up sculpture, for all the Josh Brolin fans out there. But maybe his coolest (and creepiest) sculpture is the one based on Toht, the creeptastic Nazi whose face melts away at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. It’s even more impressive as the piece is made entirely of crayons. We can’t wait to see what Richter has cooked up for us next.
