Dungeons & Dragons is mixing things up! The upcoming book Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything provides even more options to make your D&D character completely yours. Use new lineage options to adapt bonuses previously defined by race, choose from 22 new subclasses, add flavor to the storytelling with a new group patron, and discover even more tools for Dungeon Masters like pre-made puzzles and NPC sidekicks to round out a party.

All this and an epic online event celebrating the community in September? There’s no better time to get into Dungeons & Dragons.

Fans of the Greyhawk setting might already be familiar with Tasha, your guide in this eponymous book and namesake of the classic spell Tasha’s Hideous Laughter. “She’s a wonderfully complex character,” said Jeremy Crawford, the book’s lead designer and the principal rules designer of Dungeons & Dragons. Similar to Xanathar’s Guide to Everything, Tasha leaves notes in the margins of this 192-page tome to walk you through all of the new character options, spells, feats, and more.

The introduction of lineage options in the book is a game-changer, giving players the possibility to modify the traits for the character’s race. Racial bonuses often push a character into a specific class with the basic rules in the Player’s Handbook, but the optional lineage rules in Tasha’s Cauldron will give the player more freedom to customize their character even further.

“D&D adventurers are exceptional, and this book gives you the tools to make them and their story even more extraordinary,” said Crawford.

Adding to that customization will be new subclasses that are now officially integrated into the game after months of community playtesting. Iterated directly from Unearthed Arcana player feedback, subclasses like the psionic-powered sorcerer and more are described in this book. The artificer class, new ranger companions, feats, spells, magic tattoos, and spell casting foci round out the new character options. Crawford told Nerdist, “Our work is a conversation with our community that never ends.”

D&D Celebration

To celebrate that community and the release of Rime of the Frostmaiden, Wizards of the Coast is launching a brand-new online event September 18-20 called D&D Celebration.

Wizards of the Coast

“With panels featuring D&D game designers discussing the future of D&D, community-led panels and streamed live game play from luminaries in the global D&D community, every fan has something to celebrate at D&D Celebration 2020,” says the official press release.

The player-focused event will also feature the largest virtual D&D game ever played on September 19, 2020, Community Manager Brandy Camel told Nerdist. Actions of all groups in the Icewind Dale adventure can impact the others, each playing in the same world and run by the D&D Adventurer’s League. Keep an eye on the Yawning Portal community site for more information about how to join the game. All proceeds will benefit Extra Life.

Look for Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything on November 17, 2020, to take your D&D character to the next level.
