Thor: Love and Thunder arrives soon, and we can’t wait to see the next steps in Thor’s journey. When we last saw the Asgardian hero, he took off with the Guardians of the Galaxy to figure out who he wanted to be. His next movie features Natalie Portman’s return to the MCU and Christian Bale as the villainous Gorr the God Butcher. We talked with Thor: Love and Thunder writer and director Taika Waititi about Thor, Jane Foster, and Korg.

We strongly appreciate how Waititi is up for playing Korg any time. The Kronan warrior made his MCU debut in Thor: Ragnarok. He’s been part of Thor’s life ever since. And part of Taika’s life too. Here, Waititi dodges a question about whether Korg could appear in Deadpool 3. We did get that fantastic video of Korg and Deadpool together last summer as a promotion for Free Guy. It marked Deadpool’s first MCU appearance. So, naturally, we only want more of this dream team-up.

And if Waititi ends up sneaking a Kronan into his Star Wars movie? We wouldn’t complain.

In our chat with Waititi, the director and writer also talks about bringing Natalie Portman back to the MCU. Jane Foster is Mighty Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder. She has always been more than Thor’s girlfriend, but we feel thrilled to see her in a prominent role and wielding Mjolnir. She certainly has plenty to take on in the film, including Gorr the God Butcher. Christian Bale plays the character, and though we’d heard about him being a giggler on set, Waititi assures us Bale is a professional. We’re not surprised.

Thor: Love and Thunder premieres on July 8.
