Star Wars launched into a new era one year ago: The High Republic. The publishing initiative explored the galaxy far, far away’s past with stories set 200 years before the events of The Phantom Menace. With its three waves of books and comics in Phase I, The High Republic introduced a Jedi Order different from the one we’ve gotten to know in the films. And with the third and final wave of Phase I kicking off on Tuesday with Claudia Gray’s The Fallen Star, we have news about Star Wars: The High Republic Phase II.

Lucasfilm shared the Phase II news Tuesday morning during The High Republic Show Anniversary Special. The High Republic Phase II is called Quest of the Jedi. The biggest surprise? Phase II won’t directly follow Phase I’s story. No, The High Republic Phase II will go 150 years in the past—150 years before the stories of Phase I. That means roughly 350 years before the prequel trilogy. Definitely enough of a time gap to see yet another look at the Jedi Order and the politics of the galaxy.

Five authors have contributed to Phase I of The High Republic: Claudia Gray, Justina Ireland, Cavan Scott, Charles Soule, and Daniel José Older. They played the role of story architects, designing and fleshing out the era. Then on top of that, they’ve written novels and comics. And now, four new authors will join The High Republic with Phase II. They include Lydia Kang, Tessa Gratton, Zoraida Córdova, and George Mann.

While we don’t have a ton of details about Phase II titles, we do know some highlights. Ireland and Gratton will co-write Phase II’s first YA novel. Scott will pen The High Republic series for Marvel. Marvel Comics will also publish a project from Soule exploring Porter Engle’s back story. And finally, Dark Horse Comics will join The High Republic with an all-ages original graphic novel written by Older.

Star Wars: The High Republic Phase II kicks off in October 2022.
